My Path to this moment…

Weaver of Movement, womb wisdom, and embodied remembrance

Leona Steel has been devoted to the healing arts for over a decade. Her journey began in 2014, when she turned down the path of embodied healing to recover and release moments that felt stuck in her body, spirit, and heart. Through movement, nature, and self-devotion, she began to remember her own wholeness and the sacred wisdom held within the body.

Leona received her Yoga Teacher Training in 2016 and has been deeply committed to yoga and dance as a therapeutic and medicinal practice ever since. In 2022, she completed Somatic Trauma-Informed Training and began formal studies in Dance and Movement Therapy. She is currently studying Ayurvedic teachings and is furthering her studies at Grand View University focused on her masters in Clinical Therapy this year, with the intention of bridging science, spirit, and somatic healing within her work.

Leona weaves together energy work, movement, and ceremony to support emotional release and nervous system regulation. Most recently, she completed the Hara Womb Practitioner Training through the Institute of Feminine Arts, deepening her devotion to the sacred womb space and feminine embodiment.

Her work is guided by an awareness of our interconnectedness with the land and our ancestors — honoring the ways they continue to live through our bodies, our breath, and our stories. She believes healing is a remembrance of relationship: with ourselves, with the earth that holds us, and with those who came before.

Leona is most passionate about guiding women home to their bodies — remembering the wisdom, softness, and power that live within. Her dharma is rooted in devotion: to the feminine, to love, our ancestors, to the land, and to the rememberance of our sacred nature.

She lives in Bend, Oregon, with her daughter, whose presence continues to deepen her path as both mother and in reverence to others.

Why Soma Sanctuary:

Soma Sanctuary was born on a quiet walk by the sea on the Oregon Coast where Leona resided for a few months to take a break from the cold of Bend — the name whispered itself through the waves. Soma means “the body as perceived from within,” and this sanctuary is exactly that: a space to feel, to soften, to remember yourself from the inside out.

A place to reconnect with your essence, to honor your nervous system, to awaken your womb, and to remember the wisdom that has always lived within you.

This is Soma Sanctuary
a place to return,
to rise,
to be held.

To feel safe and be honored as who you are.

To be tender and dive into the womb of your heart.

And so it is.
